We will present a model that captures the fundamental interactions of the different layers in multihop wireless network. Channel access choices, whether it is time, frequency or code selection, power control decisions as well as transmission scheduling, routing and flow control decisions are captured in the model. It is general enough to have in its scope arbitrary topology networks, wireless or hybrid wireless-wireline. Furthermore it captures time-variability due to fading of the wireless channel or changing topology due to mobility of the nodes. The transport capacity region in the context of the above model will be characterized and a capacity achieving algorithm will be provided. The issue of complexity will be discussed and a variation of the resource allocation algorithm that incorporates judiciously randomized computation and has low complexity will be presented. Furthermore low complexity distributed algorithms in special cases of the model will be presented. Multicast and broadcast traffic forwarding modes will be discussed and extension of the resource allocation algorithm in that context will be presented. The cross-layer resource allocation model goes well beyond wireless networks, including within its scope other systems with interdependent service like switches, databases with locking as well as manufacturing and production systems control. Those relationships will be discussed in view of recent works.Detalhes do local: Sala 4 do Departamento de Ciência de Computadores da FCUP, Rua Campo Alegre, 1021/1055, 4169 - 007 PORTO, quarta-feira, dia 23 de Maio de 2007, às 11:00.
